Post 1

This is my fifth and last year at the UDB, and this time my entries will be focused on teens since I am going to be teaching them.

Talking about my background knowledge on teens, I can say that I feel a little bit more comfortable teaching to them because when I made my community service, I taught to teenagers although they were older than the ones we will have in this practicum due to the fact that these students will come from schools, and the ones that I had the opportunity to teach were from high school. However, I consider that this may not be a big difference of ages since they are at the same developmental stage.

What I know about teens is that they many times look like if they do not care about classes most of them when they are boring, so in order to avoid students’ disinterest on the class, we must plan classes in which they can play learning. For example, through competences due to the fact that all time that I taught teens, I could notice that even if they did not like the English subject, they got involved when the class was dynamic and even more when they were competing, so I concluded that they love games in which they have to compete.

I feel kind of excited because this is my second practice, and I think this is going to be better than my first practice because of I have some experience with teens, and also because I still remember what I liked as a teen. Nonetheless, I expect from this course to learn deeper about how to teach teens because even if I have some background knowledge I need to learn much more about it in order to overcome all kind of troubles that can be presented and learn new and different teaching techniques to apply them when teaching them.
